SSE and Velodrom
The Velodrom and the SSE (Schwimm- und Sprunghalle im Europasportpark, translated Swimming and Diving Hall in the Europasportpark) were built in connection to Berlin's bid for the Olympic Games in 2000. The construction costs amounted to € 138 million. After the IOC chose Sydney, the Velodrom was converted into a multi-purpose arena and now hosts sporting events, concerts and shows.
With the SSE, Berlin received a state-of-the-art sports and competition swimming hall. Both competition venues are connected underground. The total size of the site is about 30,000m².
